How I got started

If you’ve heard my story about how I got into shooting you know it stated with me shooting with the 4-H kids. In this photo I am shooting a .22 bolt action rifle in prone next to our youngest daughter. I was not raised around guns and never really got into shooting until Lizzy joined 4-H. I was always at her practices taking photos of her and all of the other kids as they learned and of course photos of the coaches as they taught. It wasn’t long after this started that I began to ask questions and become more intrigued by shooting. Seeing the smaller kids shooting and hitting the target and the excitement and joy on their faces, I knew I wanted to learn how. I began to learn how to shoot rifle first. Then I moved over into pistol. I have tried and tried to shoot shotgun but i am not good at it. It’s quite sad to watch me attempt to shoot shotgun, I always miss. I also learned Archery and even went to the class and became a certified 4-H Archery Coach.
And now you know how I got started on my shooting journey. It all began with my love of photography and capturing thousands of learning moments with my camera.
